MERV - rating system on the ability of the filter to capture particles, the higher the number the better the filter
PRESSURE DROP - the amount of air lost through the restriction of the filter
Note that a hi MERV rating should be equating pressure drop as well. Knock off filters advertise high MERV ratings, but leave out the pressure drop. Pressure drop can reap havoc on a furnace or air conditioner, as well as reduce air velocity. A low pressure drop air filter will significantly reduce annual electrical, heating and cooling costs
